Privacy policy

Updated October 1, 2026

PriestCheck is a public clergy and parish directory with moderated firsthand reviews. This policy describes how we use information when you browse the site or contribute.

Information we collect

We collect the ratings, written experiences, relationship details, and contact information you submit with reviews, replies, or correction requests. Submissions may reveal sensitive information about religious participation or personal experiences. Share only what is needed and avoid including private information about yourself or others.

We also process network information, including IP addresses, to operate the site, limit repeated submissions, and help prevent abuse. Directory records come from public ministry and parish sources.

How we use information

We use submissions to moderate and publish reviews, investigate corrections, maintain directory accuracy, and protect the service against misuse. Contact information provided with replies and correction requests may be used for verification and follow-up.

What becomes public

Approved reviews display ratings, written experience, and relevant participation details on the clergy profile. Approved replies display the respondent’s name and response alongside the review. Directory records and their public sources are also visible. Reviews are private until approved. Submission status is handled privately by moderators.

Moderation helps identify personal information, but the context of a published experience may still identify its author. Consider this before submitting.

Cookies and external services

The site uses a session cookie for administrator sign-in. The parish map loads software from unpkg and map tiles from OpenStreetMap. Using that page sends network information, such as your IP address, to those services. External links lead to sites with their own privacy practices.

Retention and security

Directory information and submissions are retained to support the directory, moderation, corrections, and abuse prevention. There is currently no automatic deletion schedule. Administrative access is restricted, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Privacy requests

To request a correction or removal of personal information, use the correction request form. Include the relevant record or review reference and describe your request. Avoid adding unnecessary sensitive details. Requests are reviewed in light of directory accuracy and moderation needs.
